Drug dealing in Parkdale

Residents of Parkdale have contacted Cllr Robin Lawrence and Claire Darke with concerns about drug dealing taking place in alleys and public walkways in the Parkdale area. To protect residents of Parkdale, Claire Darke, Liberal Democrat candidate for Park Ward, has demanded immediate police action. "Drug dealing is one of the worst types of anti-social and illegal behaviours," Claire said" Thanks to swift action police and community support officers are now being tasked with regularly patrolling the area to help prevent drug dealing taking place in Parkdale.Councillor Robin Lawrence told Focus Special "No residents wish to have drug dealing in their neighbourhood. Thanks to the quick response of the Liberal Democrats drug dealing in the Parkdale area may soon be reduced."

Lydd airshow has been cancelled this summer because it failed to attract a sponsor. The airshow had its debut in 2006 and was attended by 40,000 people.

Public must be protected says Cable as report into Northern Rock is published

The Treasury select committee will tomorrow highlight a catalogue of errors by the government and regulators in their handling of the Northern Rock crisis in a damning report on the bank's near-collapse. The committee will make a series of recommendations for reform of the UK's system of financial regulation and is also expected to expose the failings of the Northern Rock board and question why it was allowed to stay in place for several months after triggering the first run on a British bank in 140 years. The Liberal Democrats have written to the Chancellor warning of the dangers of the proposed rescue deal for Northern Rock, warning that taxpayers could lose out if the Government does not ensure that guarantees are able to cover any of the bank's losses.
