Lib Dems call on County Council to abandon expensive legal battle

Liberal Democrats on Surrey County Council are calling for the Conservative administration to abandon their plans to replace professional staff in 10 of the County's libraries with volunteers, rather than continue with a costly legal fight against Surrey residents in the High Court.

Pints in the Parishes in Harrold Tonight!

The first 'Pints in the Parishes' event of 2012 is taking place tonight, at The Oakley Arms in Harrold. These s essions are intended to provide an opportunity for me to hear directly from anyone who wants to discuss the issues important to them in an informal, local environment. My thanks to Harrold Parish Council for proposing that I visit the village for a Pints in the Parishes session and to the Oakley Arms for being kind enough to have me! Wiltshire Council takes action on A350 deathtraps

Highways supremo and road safety campaigner Dick Tonge is proposing measures to increase road safety on the A350 north of Chippenham. This follows a number of fatalities caused by people turning through the gaps in the central reservation. The proposals, which now go out for consultation, are:
