Many members, both old and new, turned out to close what has been a traumatic year for the Liberal Democrats on a more positive note at the AGM of the High Peak Lib Democrats.
The North East has already received billions of pounds of investment over the decades from the European Union. Projects relying on EU funding include the Hartlepool Growth Hub, the Teesside Advanced Manufacturing Park, the Consett Business Park, the Vaux site redevelopment in Sunderland, the Core Building at Science Central in Newcastle and the Northumberland Rural Growth Network.
Our friends at Colchester Lib Dems have launched a petition calling on "Essex County Council and Colchester Borough Council to ensure that buses, taxis and heavy goods vehicles that enter our town centre are zero or low emission models or fitted with filters to control harmful exhaust emissions."

Friday 20th November 2015 saw the AGM of Suffolk Coastal Liberal Democrats, with guest speaker Baroness Sally Hamwee. Sally is a Liberal Democrat Peer and Co-Chair of the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Party Committee on Home Affairs, Justice and Equalities (Home Office), as well as being part of the Joint Committee on Human Rights. She travelled from London to talk to us about the role of Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords, and how work in the Lords has changed post-election. She also led a lively discussion on the issues surrounding refugees.
