Last week, Rosemarie and I spent a relaxing 3 nights in a beautiful part of the world that we'd never visited before. Yes, Wiltshire! Winding limestone valleys, streams, rivers, lakes, picturesque villages with thatched cottages and amazing traditional pubs - also wide, clear uplands with views for miles, rich farmland, fat cattle and sheep, woodlands, miles of footpaths, towns with amazing cathedrals, mediaeval marketplaces and majestic country houses. We went down in the electric car, charged up en route while we had a coffee and then, after our arrival, an excellent meal. Fortified by a good traditional breakfast with eggs from the hotel's chickens, we spent the following day walking around the nearby countryside. The day after that we drove to a park-and-ride, where we left the car charging up while we went into town using our bus passes. Finally we made our leisurely way back home with a rapid charge near Stonehenge and taking in a National Trust property on the way. The small country hotel we stay
