Tortuous trade deals and tough tariffs if we leave - Kate Thick

The Journal's columnist today pointed out that a deal with the EU if we left would require all 27 members to agree - and smaller ones who don't trade much with us have little incentive to be nice to the UK if we leave them in the lurch. Amongst other things she points out is that we just don't have enough skilled negotiators to do all the deals we'd need in under decades. Volunteers Week - Let's Give Them all a Big Hand!

Volunteers' Week is an annual event which celebrates the fantastic contribution that millions of volunteers make across the UK. The week plays a huge part in raising the profile of the millions of volunteers who regularly contribute to society, while inspiring others to get involved too. This year, to celebrate the Queen's birthday, the event has been extended to 13 June, so it runs from 1-13 June.

New skatepark for Chelmsford, after nearly seven years of discussions.

Chelmsford Council have published drawings of new skate-ramps for Central Park. They come after nearly seven years of discussions. In Summer 2009 Lib Dem campaigner Stephen Robinson met some skaters who told him that ramps in Central Park needing repairing. Stephen Robinson arranged for some of them to meet council officers and discuss some repairs. In Dec09 (picture) Stephen met them for an update and to discuss the chances of something brand new.

Because the South Eastbenefits through EU funding, which supports regional development, provides investment in local firms, creates job opportunities, improves prospects for young people through apprenticeships and higher education, and supports agriculture. More 500,000 jobs across the South East depend on exports to the EU. Almost half (47%) of goods exported from the South East last year were exported to the EU, with a value of £19 billion.
