MP calls on Beckett to pay farmers immediately

Local MP Tim Farron has demanded that the Government make long overdue payments to local farmers immediately. Tim has submitted a written question to the Secretary of State Margaret Beckett which calls on her to ensure that Single Farm Payments are made at once. Tim has asked that farmers are paid on the basis of land areas on the rural land register in order to avoid further hardship for farmers. Whilst some of the information of the rural land register may be incorrect, Tim feels that something must be paid immediately to help farmers and alterations should be made at a later date.

MPs triathlon success

Local MP Tim Farron successfully completed his charity triathlon on Saturday 18th March in aid of North West Cancer Research Fund and New Holehird. Tim and his team trekked through snow to reach their start point by Grizedale Tarn. Tim then ran, sailed and cycled to Humphrey Head Point arriving at around 5pm.

Rowen keeps Transport Role in Lib Dem Reshuffle!

Rochdale MP - Paul Rowen has kept his Transport Spokesperson's role in a reshuffle of Lib Dem MP's. Paul was reappointed Transport Spokesperson by new Liberal Democrat Leader Sir Menzies Campbell MP. Paul has accepted a more senior role in the new Lib Dem Transport Team and will be continuing his crusade to improve Public Transport in Greater Manchester.
