Leeds MP challenges Gordon Brown on deportation

At this week's Prime Minister's Question Time the Lib Dem MP for Leeds North West, Greg Mulholland, challenged the Prime Minister on the policy of deporting people to Iran who are likely to meet harsh treatment when they arrive there due to their sexual orientation, religious beliefs or other qualities.

Justice system failing

With the government planning mass releases of prisoners to reduce overcrowding in prisons they are highlighting the complete failure of the system to rehabilitate and retrain prisoners before their release. It is a shocking reality that more people come out of prison with a drug problem than go into prison with a drug problem. Is this what we pay our taxes for?

Attention all Environmentalists - the Newts are Coming!

The borough council is to hold a Public Meeting on Monday 14th April (starting at 7.30 pm at the Town Hall) to try and solve many of the issues surrounding the Stones Road area of Epsom. The green space at the end of Stones Road contains allotments and a pond which is classified as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) because it contains great crested newts.
