We Need a Political Party to Finally Address Britain's Housing Crisis - That Party Is the Lib Dems

Britain is facing a national emergency in housing. Millions of people are living in fear and desperation without a secure, affordable place to call home. This fear is tearing communities apart and creating a more polarised society where the lucky few are the only people who can afford to own such a basic commodity. People need homes to give them the foundation for prosperity in their lives. Homes are, quite literally, the safe roof over our heads which give us security in our lives, making access to housing fundamental to our liberty, prosperity and hopes for the future.

On Thursday, her last day in the House of Lords before her retirement, Shirley Williams spent 20 minutes talking to Victoria Derbyshire. You can watch the conversation, which covered women in politics, social media (she thinks that "the cruellest people in society" shouldn't be given a voice), how some were bemused by her specialism in fields not traditionally done by women, such as nuclear proliferation, how we should take thousands of refugee children and relived the previous struggle over Ugandan refugees in the 70s when she stuck to her guns.

Nick Clegg says trade union plans are a 'spiteful' attack on party rival

CONSERVATIVE plans to slash the income of the Labour Party have been described as 'petty and spiteful' by former Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg. Reforms set out in the Trade Union Bill would end the opt-out system whereby union members must ask to be taken out of the automatic system of payments made to the Labour Party.

Spike in mental health patient deaths shows NHS 'struggling to cope'

A sudden spike in the number of mental health patients dying unexpectedly in NHS care has prompted calls for a wide-ranging investigation into "threadbare" services that are "struggling to cope". New NHS figures show that the number of deaths annually among mental health patients in England has risen 21% over the last three years from 1,412 to 1,713.
