South Lakes MP Tim Farron has today demanded that Cumbria County Council call a halt to their pay cuts for teaching assistants after it was revealed that no other shire county council was making such savage cuts to teaching assistants' pay.
Management of the Concessionary Travel Pass Scheme (bus passes for the elderly) has passed to Kent County Council as of 1 April 2011. At the same time, the starting time of the pass was changed by Kent Conservatives from 9am to 9.30am.
Kent Highway Services have notified that it will be necessary to close a number of roads within the Shepway District Council area (mainly in Romney Marsh and Elham Valley) as part of a programme of highway repairs and resurfacing. This is scheduled to start on or after 20 April 2011.
