Shepway Council has announced that the Full Council meeting scheduled for 19 March has been cancelled with the agreement of Council Chair George Bunting due to lack of business.

"Rural housing and poverty a real concern" - Farron
Liberal Democrat Countryside spokesman Tim Farron has expressed his concern at the report issued today by the Commission for Rural Communities, which states that almost a million homes in rural areas are officially living in poverty, that is they are surviving on a household income of less than £16,492. Mr Farron is meeting with the Chief Executive of the Commission for Rural Communities to discuss the issues tomorrow afternoon.

Farron presents post office petitions to Number 10
Local MP Tim Farron has presented over 6,000 signatures to Gordon Brown today in the hope that the Prime Minister will put a stop to the planned assault on our post office network - leading to over 2,500 branch closures.
