There was once a bench in a little village called Sandgate. It was quite old, and had seen better days, and was pretty hidden up a short steep, side street in the village but, no matter, there the bench was.

Leicester City is divided into Wards where each ward had its own Community Ward meetings. These are held regularly throughout the year. At these meetings the Ward Councillors, Police, NHS, representatives from various Council run departments such as Housing or Highways would be represented plus other Community Groups. These events give local people an opportunity to raise matters affecting the Community.
Four in five British and German executives want the U.K. to stay in the EU, according to a poll published Monday. Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron and MEP Catherine Bearder have written to Theresa May urging her to oppose EU plans that could see charities and volunteers criminalised for helping refugees arriving in Europe. The proposals were discussed by EU Home Affairs Ministers including Theresa May at a meeting in Amsterdam last week and were subsequently revealed in a document obtained by civil-liberties organisation Statewatch.
Lloyds Bank has announced its intention to close its branch in Theale, West Berkshire. This is the last bank branch in the village as Barclays and Nat West closed their branches some years ago. Alan Macro, Councillor for Theale on West Berkshire Council, said "this closure would cause hardship for both local businesses and residents. Local businesses would no longer be able to deposit cash at the bank. Closure would particularly affect pensioners and those without cars as the nearest Lloyds branch (in Tilehurst) is very difficult to reach by public transport. It is also extremely likely that West Berkshire Council will soon withdraw their support for the few buses between Theale and Tilehurst. As well as closing the branch, Lloyds are also proposing to remove their cash machines. I am therefore raising a petition asking Lloyds to reverse their closure decision and keep the branch open."
Cash strapped Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council will receive NOTHING from a £400m war chest to help Councils with funding cuts. Trafford Council, run by the Conservatives will receive £465,000 in 'transitional' funding from the Government. This is cash aimed at helping councils cope with the transition from 'dependence' on the Government.
