Sarah Yong selected to succeed David Heath MP in Somerton & Frome
At a packed meeting on Saturday 1st February members of the Somerton and Frome Liberal Democrats selected local woman Sarah Yong as their prospective parliamentary candidate for the 2015 General Election. Sarah succeeds local MP David Heath who announced his retirement in October last year.

Farron calls for Furness Line electrification and more broadband spending from govt
At today's Cumbria Manufacturing day South Lakes MP Tim Farron praised local businesses like Gilkes, Croppers and GSK for 'leading the economic recovery' in our area and called on the government to help these businesses by spending more on local infrastructure.

CQC event in Kendal gives MP opportunity to call for further services at WGH
The consultations in Kendal, Lancaster and Barrow were run by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). They form part of a fortnight-long inspection of the trust. At the event at Kendal College last night around 40 local people came along to discuss health care issues at the trust.

Scotland votes for equal marriage - by a massive majority
Yesterday, Tuesday 4th February 2014, the Scottish Parliament voted the Marriage and Civil Partnership Bill (Scotland) into law, by a massive majority of 105 to 18.
