Andy backs renewed call for dogs on trams!

Rochdale Lib Dem leader, Councillor Andy Kelly, has called for dogs to be allowed on the Metrolink network. He was speaking after being contacted by constituents from Newhey where he is a councillor. They complained of 'woof' justice having to leave their dogs at home after previously being able to take them on the train.

"No marks for OFSTED boss" says Andy Kelly

Rochdale Lib Dem Leader and youth worker Councillor Andy Kelly has labelled OFSTED's Regional Director Chris Russell as "short-sighted" and claimed that he needed to look at "... the bigger picture". He was speaking after Mr Russell wrote an open letter criticising the proportion of students in the Borough gaining five GCSEs from A* to C including English and Maths. Chris Russell said: "It is worrying that some of the Greater Manchester areas now figures among the worst performing local authorities in England for this measure." Rochdale, Salford, Manchester and Oldham were singled out for criticism.

Military leaders to warn against a Brexit

Mayor's Welcome for Unanimous Support for Council Budget

The Bedford Borough Council budget proposed by Mayor Dave Hodgson and his Cabinet for 2016/17 won unanimous support at a recent Full Council meeting. All Councillors present, across the Liberal Democrats, Labour, Conservative and Independent groups voted in favour of the budget, which included measures required to bridge a funding gap of over £9million due to brutal government cuts and rising need for care services.
