Expanding the use of the internet requires improvements to the capacity and speed of the internet system. Government policy is to roll out 'super-fast' broadband to 90% of the population by 2015. This roll out is principally focused on urban areas and centres of high economic activity and population, with investment from government (£530m up to 2015 and possibly £300m more up to 2017).
The transformation of the long-derelict Dema Glass and Car-Auction sites into a modern development which includes the much admired B2Net Stadium, a new Tesco and the 4 star Casa Hotel has been recognised in a prestigious national awards ceremony. The long trailed Shepway Parking Strategy has been released and agreed by Conservative Shepway District Council Cabinet. As long predicted by the Liberal Democrats in Shepway, the plan proposes new on-street parking charges in many locations across the district.
