Government U-turn on constituency boundary changes

In 2016 the government confirmed that it wanted to cut the number of MPs from 650 to 600 and rejected a report by a cross-party committee of MPs that described the move as unjustified. But on 25th March 2020 they announced a U-turn citing the increased workload expected because of Brexit. The number of MPs will stay at 650.
