Backing Chelmsford Fairtrade Town Campaign

The Annual General Meeting of Chelmsford Fairtrade Town Campaign will be held at Christ Church, New London Road on 10 November, at 7.30pm. Fairtrade refreshments and Fairtrade gifts will be on sale from 7pm. At the AGM Alison Tulloch will be giving a talk on her experiences in promoting and selling Fairtrade. All welcome.

Hoax warning of the day: a reverse PIN will not help you

Kent Trading Standards has been contacted by a concerned resident after they received a "hoax email" purporting to be from Crime Stoppers. The email states that "if forced by a robber to withdraw monies, the victim can notify the bank they are under duress and alert the Police by entering their PIN number in reverse."

Cabinet report exposes financial muddle

We'll probably never know exactly what precipitated the sudden decision by WC leader Jane Scott to dispense with the services of the WC Chief Executive, but the latest budget monitoring report exposes the fact that the administration has not got a grip on the council's finances, and would appear to justify the official story of the need to find yet more cuts.
