Everyone is familiar with the problem of the elderly who need social care having to sell their homes in order to pay for it. And over the past few years we have had endless consultations on how to pay for providing care to the vulnerable in our society at one point the Labour Government had a consultation on what should go into a consultation document!
The Liberal Democrats' South Central Region Conference on 30th October at Oxford Brookes University voted unanimously to support a Motion proposed by ALTER Hon Sec Dr David Cooper, which called for Land-value Taxation to be more strongly pushed by Lib Dems in Government, as a solution to the housing crisis. Not one person spoke against the motion.
Cheriton Councillor and School Governor Tim Prater has welcomed an announcement by education secretary Michael Gove to scrap the complex Financial Management Standard in Schools (FMSiS) scheme.
Local PCSO Debbie Bishop has organised a litter pick on Sandgate Beach. Teams are meeting at 10:30am on Saturday 20th in Castle Road car park. Extra helpers would be welcomed! All equipment will be provided.
A statement by Cllr John Schoner on behalf of Hythe Town Council has called on Shepway to refuse the submitted planning application (Planning Application No Y10/0436/SH - Fishermans Beach, Hythe), and raised questions about Shepway's own potential £2.25m income from the development if the application is passed.
