The Liberal Democrats would like to Congratulate all the people, young and old who were involved with the "Ram Katha" by Shree Morari Bapu from the 15th of July 06 to the 23rd July 06 under the Auspicious of Jalaram Charitable Trust. There were over 50000 people from all over the world who attended the Katha over the 9 days.

County Tories called to account on Climate Change

The Liberal Democrat Group on Surrey County Council have called on the Council's ruling Conservative administration to take urgent action to reduce Surrey's impact on climate change, publishing a plan by the end of 2006. In a lively debate held at Full Council on 25th July, members from across the chamber joined the Liberal Democrats in calling on the Executive to show leadership in formulating a plan of action to combat climate change.

Lib Dem Mark Oaten to stand down as MP

Liberal Democrat MP Mark Oaten is to stand down at the next general election. The 42-year-old MP has ended speculation over his political future by announcing he will not contest his Winchester seat. The former Lib Dem home affairs spokesman has said he wants to change careers when he stands down and concentrate on development issues.
